How long’s it gonna be
Before I see
A way to mend this wrong?
How can I turn a leaf
When nothing has been written
In so long?
You said a lot of things to me
That never came to be…
(But that aside)
You said repeatedly
You’d like to be
Like family again
But if you ever want me to trust you again
And if you still want me
To consider you a friend
Yeah, if you ever want me to trust you again
Listen to me, don’t ignore me this time
Not this time, old friend
Don’t be cold towards me
Please don’t ignore me this time
Not this time, old friend
A lot of things have changed
And rearranged
It’s all worked out so well.
So is it wrong of me
To think of you
When I’ve some good news to tell?
I admit, there were times I tried
To be qualified
By your opinion
Then I would be horrified
If you replied
With superior derision
Can I just make one thing clear if I’ve not said it before?
You’re not my pastor, my priest, my teacher, nor my mentor
I won’t ask you for your good advice, anymore
Listen to me, don’t ignore me this time
Not this time, old friend
Don’t be so cold towards me
Please don’t ignore me this time
Not this time, old friend
Am I bitter and twisted?
I aimed, but I missed, it
was just a hello
because I want to know
How you are, and your wife
And your meaningful life
Are no reason for you
To be this cold…
Listen to me, don’t ignore me this time
Not this time, old friend
Don’t be so cold towards me
Please don’t ignore me this time
Not this time, old friend
